We at Pophams are a team of artisan bakers and baristas with one philosophy: produce the best pastries and coffee across London.

Located just by London Fields, our Hackney site has become a popular location for the area. We have an excellent community of regulars and local customers who love coming in for their caffeine and pastry fix.

Pophams Hackney is the central hub of the company – it is where all our pastries and bread are prepared and baked. We also have a pasta restaurant that operates in the evening (with a separate manager and team). This makes it an incredibly busy and bustling site 7 days a week.

We’re recruiting a driven and enthusiastic Assistant Manager to support the Manager in leading the daytime team of baristas and front of house in delivering exceptional quality food and drink with impeccable service. Strong management and organisational skills are key – being confident in how to support and lead their team, as well as manage their time effectively to complete administrative tasks. The role will be both challenging and rewarding and comes with MANY edible perks!

Candidate must be:

  • Experienced in managing large teams and busy services

  • Passionate about hospitality

  • Experienced as a barista

  • Upbeat and able to lead a team to deliver exceptional service at all times

  • Intuitive, quick to think on their feet, and able to keep a level head during busy and challenging times

  • Well-presented and a good team player

  • An excellent communicator

  • Organised: able to prioritise, delegate and manage workload effectively

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring service is smooth and of the Pophams standard

  • Driving sales

  • Assisting in organising the transfer of pastries and products to other Pophams locations

  • Assisting in training new staff

  • Building relationships with regulars

  • Supporting the management team

  • Ensuring product standards are upheld

  • Using stock system to place orders and record wastage and transfers

  • Ensuring site is health and safety and food safety compliant
